The more that AA falls under the weight of scrutiny in our age of scientific fact, medical research, clinical studies and light speed communication, the more many steppers will resist the facts, even unto all out folly, and fall on their own swords in a last ditch verbal offensive. I'll share some of these tirades with you. Some of them are directed at me personally, and others are aimed at a wide range AA Nay Sayers who span the internet in ever increasing articles, blogs and videos. There are many far more sensible rebuttals to be found among the AA defenders, but in all reality, the crazies are dominating the scene.
Before I go any further, here are two of AA's "Twelve Traditions", those traditions being guidelines for keeping Bill Wilson's troops in order. Food for thought...
10. Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A.
name ought never be drawn into public controversy.
However, AA literature clearly states that the program's 12 steps and 12 traditions are but suggestions, so AAWS, as well as many of AA's lunatic culters are off the hook. That said, by reading these rants, one would never imagine that AA is merely a program of suggestions. (In reality, it isn't.)
I've removed names from the following screenshots, in the best interest of anonymity and thus, world peace. These comments are all from 12 step torch bearers, many (but not all) of whom have used their full names and foulest of dialogue, in breach of those dusty traditions. Who needs rules anyhow? And would rules really make a difference if you were entrusting your life to these guys?
This is just my observation, but I'm not seeing any evidence of this "spiritual way of life" that they claim to be experiencing...
And for the record, you DON'T have a gift for humour...although you seem to possess other very unique qualities.
Ouch on that last one. I'm headed to bed before I get drunk. Stay tuned...there's a big pile to sort through here folks.
Ok, back...
God is not part of AA? Hmmm...
"Turned our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him..."
"But there is one who has all power; that one is God-may you find him now."
"Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs."
But I'm glad that if I misinterpreted those words, and I want to repent, that "the door is always open".
It's worth a repeat showing....
Don't call me "Love"...and I like my wig, thank you...
This kindly gentleman also had this to say, when I inquired as to why he broke his own anonymity...

11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we
need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and
films. (And since that was written 75 years ago, we can safely add "at the level of the world wide web")
But what good are AA's 12 Traditions when its corporate office throws this position out to the masses:

"The General Service Board has no authority, legal or otherwise, to control or direct the behavior of A.A. members and groups.”

Go, Captain! Go to your people!

He actually has three names apparently...his real name, his invented last name and "Captain America" (Yes, that's our captain speaking.) Speaking of ranting, I can't keep up with this guy's emails. Man, go to a meeting or something!
I will do something positive, thank you. I'll keep writing this blog and educating people!
Don't know about that guy, But I did roughly 3000 meetings in 25 years, and that bigger picture
looked worse every year! Look at it through someone else's eyes? Ok..can I borrow yours?
Recite the Serenity Prayer and call your sponsor. You can do this!
For this next culter rant, I'm breaking my promise to keep posters anonymous for just one moment. This guy is the twisted personification of most AA members. Most steppers won't say something like this to someone's face, mind you, but they have no problem with slamming you once you're not in earshot. Tommy has plagued the internet with his poison. Since he wants so desparately to be heard, here's his shining moment...
Tom's verbal vomit was in response to a youtube post that underlined the fact that in AA's own literature, it's clearly written that the 12 steps are but suggestions. Furthermore, "the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking." (from AA's 12 traditions)
Here's one more from Tom, just so we're clear on who the real asshole is..
to be continued
